I always forget how to do this, so I am going to put it on my blog If you have ever watched a youtube clip, and wanted to show your friends a particular snippet beginning at some specific time, you might send them the URL and tell them “Watch after 30seconds.” A better method of communication is to send the URL with a “time marker.”

Take the following youtube URL:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw1s3yXZLYc

If we add: #t=2m51s to the end of the url

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw1s3yXZLYc#t=2m51s

It directs us to the video and starts playing at 2 minutes(2m) and 51 seconds(51s). Suppose the video is over one hour. We can do the following:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ImvlS8PLIo#t=1h2m30s

This tell us to start at 1 hour(1h) 2 minutes(2m) and 30 seconds(30s)

Finally decided to find this one out. A good number of websites have little pictures next to their url in the address bar. For instance, Apple has a platinum Apple and CNN has the CNN logo. I finally decided to use MSN, MSN also has a cool webicon, to learn how to put one on my website.

Those little web icons are called FavIcons (Favorite icons) and their file type is .ico. (Where have I been lol!?) To utilize them, you must create a small image of the .ico format. You can do this using some picture editors or you can go HERE and do it for free. I did the latter. After your icon is created, upload it to the root directory of your website but some have reported it is to be placed in the /images directory.

Then place this in your html header:

<link rel=”shortcut icon” href=”favicon.ico” >
<link rel=”icon” href=”animated_favicon1.gif” type=”image/gif” >

The second line is optional pending if you decide on using the animated gif given by the free generator. Be sure to upload both files if you intend on doing that.

To see the results, you may have to do one or more of the following:

1. Refresh.

2. Bookmark your page.

3. Clear your cache.
